Home to 32 natural springs, Krause Springs is the perfect place to cool off from the scorching Texas heat. The 115 acre property is so special that it is registered on the National Registry of Historical Sites, so you know you are in for a treat when you visit.

Enjoy the manmade pool that is fed by several of the springs before strolling through the butterfly garden.

Westcave Preserve, also called the Westcave Discovery Center, is another great way to enjoy nature during your time in Spicewood.

The star attraction of this 76 acre property is the beautiful Texas waterfall that cascades over 40 feet. It is truly a sight to behold.

In addition to the waterfall, Westcave offers guided tours that take visitors into their onsite grotto and open cave filled with stalactites and stalagmites.

To preserve the delicate environment, Westcave does require you to make a reservation prior to your visit.

    Visit a Distillery

The Texas Hill Country is known to be a great wine region, but did you know that there are also numerous distilleries and craft breweries in this area also? It’s true, and Spicewood is home to one of our favorites, Iron Wolf Ranch & Distillery.

We love Iron Wolf’s laid back atmosphere with their expansive outdoor space and fun yard games.

Of course, great spirits and live music help to add to the atmosphere, and are the draw for most visitors.

One of my favorites is their HotScotch, a butterscotch whiskey blended with peppers. This sweet and spicy whiskey makes a fun and unique old fashioned cocktail!

Muleshoe Bend is the perfect place to spend some time outdoors while visiting Spicewood.

The Texas Hill Country is full of wineries, and lucky for you, Spicewood, and the surrounding Marble Falls area, are no exception.

Frontyard Brewing in Spicewood serves up a variety of cold beers, so there is something for all tastes. One of my favorites is their Salted Caramel Stout, it is so unique and different.

While I will try a beer once in a while, I’m not a huge beer drinker, so I appreciated that Frontyard also offered seltzer cocktails.

    Enjoy Pace Bend Park

As you can see, there are numerous outdoor areas to include on your Spicewood itinerary. Another to add to the list is Pace Bend Park.

Opie’s Barbecue is a must-visit during your time in Spicewood.

Serving up delicious Texas BBQ, Opie’s is a legend in this area. I went for the sweet and spicy ribs while Marty loved the brisket and smoked sausage. We both agreed that the spicy corn and tater tot casserole had to be our sides, and they were delicious!

Really, no matter what you choose Opie’s Barbecue won’t disappoint.
